The Washington Spirit are gearing up for their first rematch of the year (Saturday’s 7 p.m. kickoff @ Maryland SoccerPlex Stadium), with a chance to end their homestand on a high note before packing up for a three-game road trip.
The Washington Spirit set one record Saturday night, but failed to improve on another. The new professional women’s soccer team packed a sell-out crowd of 5,011 fans into the Maryland SoccerPlex for the visit of Portland Thorns FC, but could not complete a late comeback effort to improve on their season points total as Portland won 2-1.
The Washington Spirit are proud to announce we have completely sold out for today’s game against the Portland Thorns. The box office will be closed. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Fans missing out on tickets can watch online at www.youtube.com/nwsl
With international stars, two of the National Women’s Soccer League’s top goal-scorers and an expected sellout crowd, Saturday will be a special night at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
