Washington, D.C. (03/19/2024) – The Washington Spirit ushers in a new season at its home opener on Saturday, March 23 with numerous elevated entertainment options, custom merch items, and amenities for fans to enjoy. Saturday’s welcome back to fans will feature the first-ever meeting between the new-look Washington Spirit, sporting its recently released “Blackout” kits, and Bay FC, the NWSL’s expansion side from San Francisco.
Fans should arrive early as the festivities begin when gates open at 6:00 pm. Upon entry, the first 3,000 fans will receive a Spirit schedule magnet. Additionally, White Ford Bronco will perform from 6:00pm to 7:15pm at the Spirit Stage next to Gate A.
White Ford Bronco is the pre-eminent 90s cover band in the D.C. and the Mid-Atlantic area, playing venues in DC, Richmond, and New York City. The five-person band has risen to prominence, developing a strong following since forming in 2008.
Stay in your seat at halftime, as the Spirit unveils one of its most exciting entertainment collaborations in the team’s history when the JABBAWOCKEEZ take the field. With nearly 20 million social media followers, the JABBAWOCKEEZ are one of the most recognizable dance groups in the world. Their talents have led them to perform on international tours and at massive entertainment events such as the 2022 NBA Finals. The ensemble of anonymous, masked dancers has also pulled in millions of viewers throughout their multi-year residency at MGM in Las Vegas.
The Spirit will unveil its newest Cherry Blossom collection exclusively at Audi Field before the match on March 23. Fans can choose between unique cherry blossom themed sweatshirts, shirts, and scarfs just in time for peak bloom. Select Spirit Core collection items, which debuted at the Spirit’s First Look event, will also be available for purchase. In addition to being able to use their merch discount in-stadium, season ticket members will also receive a discount on jerseys for the first time ever.
Other exciting amenities available at the Spirit home opener include a welcome from the George Mason University Drumline as fans enter Gate A. Just outside of the stadium, Sandlot Bar will open for fans. This converted shipping container bar and event space has been serving up drinks and energy in locations around the DMV since 2018, when it debuted as an activation idea for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game at Nationals Park.
Finally, fans with Premium Club seats will enjoy a curated playlist by DJ Fili, as well as photo opportunities, a face painter, and a friendship bracelet station.
