2023 Matchday Information

Washington, D.C. (08/29/2023) – The Washington Spirit hosts the Chicago Red Stars at Audi Field this Sunday for a special DC Ward Night, presented by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst). The theme night will pay homage to the special communities around the District, paying particular interest to the people, places, and businesses of Wards 6, 7, and 8 – the communities closest to the Spirit’s home of Audi Field.

Fans can interact with businesses and community organizations from Wards 6, 7, and 8 on the stadium concourse before the game. Community groups, non-profit organizations, business improvement districts, and local politicians will also be invited to the game to honor these communities of Washington, D.C.

For $15, fans can purchase a ticket + drink special. This phenomenal offer is limited, so make sure to get it before it goes. The promotion applies to canned beers and seltzers and is available at Heineken Hall inside Gate B.

Sunday also marks the penultimate day fans can purchase 2024 Season Ticket Memberships at the historic two-for-the-price-of-one offer. This unbeatable special applies to premium – club and field-level – seats only and requires an opt in for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Membership Services and Sales representatives will set up throughout the concourse to assist any interested fans. For more information, please click here

Keep an eye out at merchandise stands throughout the venue as the Spirit will debut new jackets and caps as Sunday’s “Item of the Game.” These products are being sold in limited quantity, so make sure to snatch them up quickly.

At halftime, Spirit defender Tara McKeown will be honored as the Spirit Ambassador in the 2023 NWSL Nationwide Community Impact Program. McKeown has chosen to partner with Spirit community partner, DC SCORES, to support its programming. Additionally, with an appearance in the game, McKeown will appear in her 50th game with the Spirit and will be honored following the match.

Before the game, CareFirst will select an honorary captain to amplify the impact that the partnership between the Spirit and CareFirst will bring to the District. The National Anthem will be sung by Hailey Coleman, with ASL interpretation from Audrey Markel, while Metro PD from Wards 6, 7, and 8 will serve as the Color Guard.

Finally, on the Spirit Stage, fans can watch Crush Funk, a brass band ensemble hailing from Washington, D.C., perform its funky tunes – a New Orleans sound with a DC vibe. Their performance is set to accompany a poetry reading from a DC SCORES poet-athlete.
