Boyds, Md., (9/4/2020) – The Washington Spirit are proud to announce that, in partnership with the club’s official Health and Wellness Sponsor CVS Health, the club will be donating $5,000 to our partner non-profit organizations: Comfort Cases, Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN) Greater DC-Baltimore, Teens Run DC, Youth Leadership Foundation, DC Scores, Children’s National Medical Center and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The partnership between CVS and the Spirit reflects a shared goal of building healthier communities, with a focus on the health and wellness of women and underserved youth. Prior to the tournament, Spirit players expressed interest in establishing a donation program for the Challenge Cup to Spirit Majority Owner Steve Baldwin, with an emphasis on serving young, Black communities in the Washington Metropolitan.
“The most rewarding aspect of the work of the Washington Spirit is our work in the community,” said Baldwin. “We are fortunate to have such wonderful community partners. Prior to the NWSL Challenge Cup, we announced that as an integral component of our work with CVS Health, that we would make donations to the YLF, Comfort Cases, KEEN Greater DC Baltimore, DC Scores, Children’s National Hospital, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital for each goal and shutout we achieved in Utah. Today we are fulfilling that promise and I thank our players and CVS for their service and commitment to our community.”
