Boyds, MD (July 27, 2018) – Washington Spirit midfielder Rose Lavelle appeared as a second half substitute for the United States Women’s National Team in a 4-2 win over Japan at the 2018 Tournament of Nations.
Lavelle earned her ninth international cap on Thursday when she entered as a 64th minute substitute for Julie Ertz. It was Lavelle’s first appearance since June 12 when she appeared as a substitute for the U.S. in a friendly against China PR.
Two minutes into her 26 minutes of action, Lavelle helped create the team’s fourth goal of the contest. Receiving a pass from teammate Megan Rapinoe, Lavelle hit a one-touch pass back to Rapinoe which took a deflection off a Japanese defender right into the path of Rapinoe who finished for the U.S.
