Boyds, MD (October 13, 2017) – Washington Spirit fans have voted Stephanie Labbé‘s diving stop against the Chicago Red Stars on June 17 as the 2017 Washington Spirit Save of the Year.
The one-handed diving effort by Labbé on a Vanessa Di Bernardo shot headed inside the post was one of three made by the Canadian keeper in a 1-1 road draw for the Spirit.
Labbé received 50 percent of the votes for Save of the Year out of the four nominees, which also included a save by DiDi Haracic against Seattle Reign FC, a triple save featuring efforts by Haracic and defender Whitney Church on a game-clinching play in the closing seconds of stoppage time on Sept. 10 against Sky Blue FC, and another save from Labbé in a win over Sky Blue FC.
