Boyds, Md., (8/26/19) – Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has been nominated for another NWSL Save of the Week Award for her efforts in the final minutes of added time during the second half last Saturday.
Bledsoe, who is second in the NWSL with 64 stops this year, made a diving reaction save on a close-range header from Rachel Hill inside the six-yard-box. Diving quickly to her left, Bledsoe was able to stop the attempt on goal, which was then cleared by defender Paige Nielsen. The save kept the Spirit in front of an aggressive Orlando side who were looking to equalize late.
Bledsoe previously won the award in early August against the North Carolina Courage. If Bledsoe wins the award, it will take her to nine wins in her career, good for third most by a player in NWSL history.
Spirit fans can vote for Aubrey Bledsoe’s save via Twitter. Voting will close at 11:30 am on Tuesday.
