SYDNEY, (12/16/19) – Washington Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe was back in action this week as Sydney FC shutout the Newcastle Jets last Sunday. Spirit forward Crystal Thomas also made her season debut for the Perth Glory as they drew with Canberra United early Friday morning.

Bledsoe’s clean sheet on Sunday was her third of the young W-League season. Through five weeks, Sydney FC has a claim to the best defense in Australia as Bledsoe and her backline have now allowed just two goals in their first five games of the year. Bledsoe has made 21 saves thus far this season.

Thomas was named to the Starting XI on Friday, making her W-League debut for Perth as they took on Canberra. After going down 1-0 early thanks to a Simone Charley strike, Perth snatched their first point of the season in the 90th minute as Thomas whipped a corner into Kim Carroll, who skillfully put the header in the back of the net off the crossbar.

Bledsoe and the Sky Blues will be back in action on Friday, December 20 at 1 a.m. ET as they lock horns with Sam Staab and the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Sydney Derby.

Thomas and Perth will be taking on top-of-the-league Melbourne City on Thursday, December 19 at 3:30 a.m ET.
