Washington, D.C. (08/08/2024) – Washington Spirit goalkeeper Lyza Bosselmann has been placed on the season-ending injury (SEI) list and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season as she rehabs a wrist injury, the club announced today. Bosselmann will remain with the team throughout her recovery, working closely with the Spirit Performance, Medical and Innovation department.

Bosselmann is in her second season with the Spirit after being drafted by the club with the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft. Serving as a backup goalkeeper, Bosselmann made her NWSL debut in this season’s opener against Seattle Reign FC, coming on in relief of Aubrey Kingsbury in second half stoppage time.

Before turning pro, Bosselmann attended Gonzaga University. In four seasons with the Bulldogs, she appeared in 62 matches and maintained a goals against average (GAA) of 0.87. Bosselmann also made 182 saves in her collegiate career, stopping almost 80 percent of shots on target. In her senior season, Bosselmann posted her career-best GAA (0.72) en route to earning West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
