Before Ouleye Sarr and the Washington Spirit take on the Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup at 7:30 p.m., the United States, Colombia, and Canada all secured spots in the Olympic quarterfinals in France. We breakdown the action below:
USA – 2, Australia – 1
Already ensured a spot in the quarterfinals, the USWNT locked down first place in Group B with a 2-1 win over the Aussies. Trinity Rodman opened the scoring in the first half, adding to her goal and assist from earlier in the tournament.

With the goal, Rodman joins Sophia Smith as the first USWNT athletes to notch a goal contribution in all three group matches at a major international tournament since Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach did so at the 2012 Olympics, according to Opta.
Late in the match, rookie sensation Croix Bethune made her Olympic debut, much to the delight of Spirit fans:

Canada – 1, Colombia – 0
Leicy Santos once again started the match for Colombia, while Gabby Carle entered the game late in the second half to bolster the Canadians’ defenses and secure the win. Next up, Canada will face Germany in the quarterfinals on Saturday, August 3 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
While the Colombians didn’t pick up any points today, their earlier win over New Zealand and zero goal differential was enough to earn them a spot in the final eight. Las Cafeteras will face the reigning World Cup champions Spain on Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 a.m. ET.
