Professional women’s soccer team to debut with sleek look at new home field.
Washington, D.C. (03/01/2023) – The Washington Spirit today unveiled new black home kits with a chrome crest at a first-ever season premiere event. In a departure from the traditional red, white and blue sported through the club’s first ten seasons, the Spirit steps into a new era of professional women’s soccer in the District in sleek black and brilliant white. Black home and white away kits are further offset with a raised chrome crest designed to catch the light with player movement.
Under the leadership of majority owner Michele Kang, the club seeks to elevate women’s soccer. The decisive kit color palette represents the fresh and bold changes continuing within the club on and off the field.
“When the Spirit takes the pitch this season at Audi Field, the new kits and crest reflect our unmistakable posture – we play to win,” Kang stated. “The same attitude will be apparent to our fans in the stadium as we deliver great excitement from start to finish.”
This season, the dynamic new kits will feature an all-black look at home with a chrome crest and white partner logos. On the road, the Spirit will wear white tops with a chrome crest and black partner logos and either white or black shorts. CVS Health returns this season as the official front of kit partner of the Washington Spirit. Fans can purchase new kits featuring their favorite Spirit player exclusively on the Washington Spirit Shop beginning March 2.
“Our message to fans is as clear as our new kit colors. We are here to play world-class soccer,” stated midfielder Tori Huster. “In addition to the tremendous investment that has gone into the team, our players are working tirelessly in training to prepare for the season. We can’t wait to take the field in the home opener this month.”
The new kit and crest colors were introduced at the club’s first-ever season premiere event, held at Penn Social in the epicenter of the nation’s capital. Premium season members, representatives from Spirit supporter groups and corporate partners celebrated the upcoming season alongside Spirit players, coaches and staff. Kang was joined onstage by President of Business Operations Emma May, Head Coach Mark Parsons and Vice President of Performance & Innovation Dawn Scott. Guests also enjoyed two panels featuring Spirit players, autograph signings and an early look at a new brand campaign to roll out during the 2023 season.
The Spirit opens the 2023 regular season hosting OL Reign on Sunday, March 26 at Audi Field. The club announced earlier this season that all 14 home matches will be played for the first time at Audi Field in Buzzard Point, ensuring players and fans alike access to a facility befitting a professional club. Fans can secure tickets now to all 2023 home matches with a season membership. Available here, the season membership grants fans access to priority seating, an exclusive Trinity Rodman bobblehead, invitations to special events throughout the season and more. Single game tickets are also on sale now.
