Cary, NC (07/28/2022) – The Washington Spirit will take on the North Carolina Courage at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday night in the side’s third trip to Cary in three months.
For the first time since June 17, Washington’s USWNT players are back with the team. After leading the U.S. to the Concacaf Women’s Championship title in Mexico earlier this month, seven Spirit stars have returned to the club, including six who are available to play Friday. In three matches without its USWNT players, the Spirit managed just one goal and 12 shots on target. With the return of two of the Washington front three in Trinity Rodman and Ashley Sanchez, the Spirit will expect to see a bump in its offensive production. North Carolina will notably be without its two Brazilian stars as Debinha and Kerolin are still competing with their home country in the Copa América Femenina in Colombia. Having not beaten the Courage in its last four tries or won at all in its past 14 matches, the Spirit has a chance to correct course entering the final two months of the season with the side finally being back near full strength for the first time since March.
The match will be broadcast on Paramount+ for fans in the United States and on Twitch for international viewers. Following the match, the Spirit will host a press conference with head coach Kris Ward and two players. Fans can stream the postgame presser via the Washington Spirit Twitch channel.
