Leesburg, VA (07/09/2022) – The Washington Spirit will take on the new-name Kansas City Current at Segra Field Sunday evening to start the second half of the 2022 regular season.
Washington will once again be without seven of its regular starters as the USWNT continues CONCACAF Women’s Championship play in Mexico. Despite the missing players, Washington is finally on the right side of the injury report, with all players but Tori Huster available for action again. The Spirit is currently winless in its last 12 outings while the Current is unbeaten in its previous five, a streak during which the side has trailed for only ten minutes of play. Washington will look for continued success from Tara McKeown and Jordan Baggett who returned from injury last week and teamed up for the Spirit’s lone score of the 2-1 loss to San Diego.
The match will be broadcast on Paramount+ for fans in the United States and on Twitch for international viewers. Following the match, the Spirit will host a press conference with head coach Kris Ward and two players. Fans can stream the postgame presser via the Washington Spirit Twitch channel. The team will return to DC next week to take on the Orlando Pride at Audi Field on Sunday, July 17.
