Cary, N.C. – Thursday October 4, 2018: The women’s national teams of the United States (USA) and Mexico (MEX) play in a 2018 CONCACAF Womenís Championship game at Sahlenís Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Boyds, Md. (October 5, 2018) – Washington Spirit midfielder Rose Lavelle played 66 minutes in a starting role while forward Mallory Pugh notched her 38th career international cap on Thursday night as the U.S. Women’s National Team dominated Mexico 6-0 in their first group match at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship.

After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, the USA exploded for five goals in the second half, improving to 28-1-0 all-time in CONCACAF Women’s World Cup qualifying, including a 14-0-0 mark at home. Thursday’s game was played in front of 5,404 fans at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. [+Full Match Recap]

Lavelle recorded the 14th cap of her young career with the senior national team, as she continues to solidify her role in the U.S. midfield at the age of 23. Meanwhile, Pugh came on as a substitute for Tobin Heath in the 77th minute, earning her 38th career senior team cap at the age of 20.

The USA will continue play at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship vs. Panama in Cary, N.C. on Oct. 7 (5 p.m. ET; FS1, UDN). The WNT will then finish group play against Trinidad & Tobago on Oct. 10 (7:30 p.m. ET; FS2, UDN).
