Bolt joins Spirit in transfer from Brazil’s SC Internacional
Washington, D.C. (01/09/2025) – The Washington Spirit has signed standout Brazilian forward Tamara Bolt, the club announced today.
“Tamara has shown great potential so far in her young career and we’re excited to welcome her to the club,” said President of Soccer Operations/General Manager Mark Krikorian. “We look forward to helping further develop her skills as a professional.”
Bolt joins the Spirit on a one-year deal with 2026 and 2027 options and will occupy an international roster slot. The move involved a transfer fee paid by the Spirit to the forward’s former club SC Internacional. In three seasons at the top-flight Brazilian club, Bolt appeared in 36 matches and played nearly 2,500 minutes, tallying six goals in the process. Prior to her move south to join SC Internacional, Bolt played on the U-18 team at EC Bahia in her home state on Brazil’s east coast.
“I am excited to play in the biggest league in the world and for one of the league’s greatest clubs,” said Bolt. “My decision to sign with the Spirit was based on the career plan that was presented to me and the club’s project to win titles. I believe that the Spirit will help me become a better athlete, both individually and collectively, as part of a journey of victories.”
The Spirit will take the field in 2025 looking to build on this year’s second place finish in the NWSL. Behind stellar performances from the side’s star players and rookie phenoms, the Spirit set new single season club marks on the pitch in wins (18, also a league record), points (56) and goals (51) in front of record attendances at Audi Field in 2024.
