OL Reign-Washington Spirit match to be hosted at Audi Field Wednesday, May 4

CHICAGO (04/28/2022) – The National Women’s Soccer League, in collaboration with the Washington Spirit, D.C. United and The Aspen Institute, announced today that OL Reign’s 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup semifinal match against the Spirit, originally slated to be hosted at Segra Field on Wednesday, May 4, has been relocated to Audi Field.

The match remains set for an 8 p.m. ET start and will air live on CBS Sports Network.

“I want to thank everyone who worked hard to get this playoff match to Audi Field,” said NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman. “The spirit of partnership exhibited to make this work is exactly the kind of problem solving that makes me proud to work in the sports industry. This game between two spectacular teams will no doubt be one of the highlights of what has already been an exciting Challenge Cup and we’re pleased to have secured a world-class venue to showcase some of the greatest soccer players in the world.”

The venue was previously considered unavailable due to the Aspen Institute’s Project Play Summit occurring at Audi Field throughout the day on May 4. The Project Play initiative uses the power of sport to build healthy children and communities, and the NWSL recently endorsed the Children’s Bill of Rights in Sports. All parties worked together to ensure a positive outcome. Berman has been involved with the initiative since her days with the National Hockey League, and D.C. United and Audi Field’s willingness to host both events was appreciated by all parties.

Berman is scheduled to speak at the Summit and her remarks can be viewed through the live stream HERE, and all Summit participants will have the opportunity to receive tickets to the Challenge Cup semifinal match for themselves and a guest.

Single match tickets will go on sale to the general public at 12 p.m. ET on Monday, May 2. Tickets will be available for purchase HERE.

Washington Spirit’s current season ticket members will be provided an exclusive pre-sale window to purchase discounted tickets on Sunday, May 1 at 8 p.m. ET, following the Spirit’s regular season opener.

All Audi Field season ticket members will receive their current seats for the Challenge Cup semifinal match at no additional cost.
