Washington, D.C., (02/10/2022) – Sydney Schneider has been called up to the Jamaica women’s national football team, the organization announced today. Schneider made her debut with the Reggae Girlz in 2018.

Jamaica will compete in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers this month in Group C. The team will open up play on Thursday, February 17 against Bermuda at National Stadium in Devonshire Parish. On Sunday, February 20, Jamaica will play Grenada at Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George’s.

Originally from Dayton, New Jersey, Schneider competed for the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks at the collegiate level before being drafted by the Spirit in 2021. At UNCW, Schneider earned First Team All-CAA honors while winning the conference’s inaugural Goalkeeper of the Year award in her final season. At the international level, Schneider helped Jamaica to a third place finish in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship and, in turn, an appearance at the World Cup the following year.
