Boyds, MD – August 21, 2019: The Washington Spirit tied Utah Royals FC 0-0 during a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) match at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

Boyds, Md., (11/6/19) – The Washington Spirit were active during the NWSL Re-Entry Wire period, placing nine players onto the Re-Entry Wire and claiming one. 

Of the nine players the Spirit placed on the Re-Entry Wire, three were picked up by another NWSL team. Midfielder Chloe Logarzo was claimed by the Orlando Pride, while forwards Cali Farquharson and Arielle Ship were both claimed by Utah Royals FC. 

In total, five players were selected off of the Re-Entry Wire, with Utah selecting three players and the Spirit and Orlando both selecting one. All players not selected by a team during the Re-Entry period are now discovery eligible. 

The Spirit also made one claim on the NWSL Re-Entry Wire, claiming former North Carolina Courage midfielder Kaycie Tillman. Tillman was selected by the Courage with the 36th pick in the 2019 NWSL Collegiate Draft. The midfielder currently plays for PSV in the Eredivisie Vrouwen, the top Women’s league in the Netherlands, and has made six appearances.
