Boyds, Md., (9/19/19) – The Spirit will return to SeatGeek Stadium this Saturday for their second away bout with the Chicago Red Stars. After winning 2-0 in their last visit to the Windy City, the Spirit will be hunting for a repeat performance and an important three points.

Here are some of the most important stats to keep an eye on as the Spirit take on Chicago this weekend.

6 – Goals scored by Ashley Hatch this season

Hatch has been clinical for the Spirit in their past two games scoring two goals and recording an assist. Hatch found the back of the net during the Spirit’s last trip to Chicago, putting the Spirit up 2-0 late into the match. Hatch was the Spirit’s Golden Boot winner last season and is on pace to win the award this year.

9 – Offsides calls against the Red Stars in their season series with the Spirit

Chicago has had a high powered attack this season with 61 total goals and assists, but the Spirit defense has managed to limit their attack by maintaining a high line. In catching the Red Stars offsides, the Spirit have been able to neutralize a potent Chicago offense.

33 – Number of goals created by Chicago forwards Sam Kerr and Yuki Nagasato

The Spirit defense has held the dangerous Kerr and creative Nagasato to just one goal during their previous two matches this season, but the duo has wreaked havoc on opposing teams all year, being responsible for 33 of the Red Stars’ 36 goals scored this year.

4 – Number of goals involved for Rose Lavelle during the World Cup

Lavelle posted three goals and one assist during her first trip to the World Cup. She’s also accounted for one assist and 6 shots in 315 minutes of play for the Spirit this season. The explosive midfielder returns to the Spirit this week for her first action since August 17.

49.5 – Average possession for the Spirit in their season series with the Red Stars

The possession battle has remained relatively equal through the first two meetings this season. The Spirit will aim to tip the scale in their third meeting, as they’ve had an average possession of 57 percent in their last three games.
