Boyds, Md., (7/14/2019) – The Washington Spirit began its first of three summer training centers this past week at the Maryland Soccerplex. The centers are a four-day training program that gives young girls a first-hand look at what it is like to be pro.

The training program is run by Spirit CEO and sporting director Larry Best, with pro team head coach Richie Burke and assistant coaches Tom Torres and Ian McCaldon also lending their professional NWSL-grade teachings. In addition, high-performance director Michael Minthorne will join the camp during the U15-U19 groups.

Throughout the course of the four-day training centers, players receive a tour of the pro team locker room, the opportunity to watch the pro team train and a meet and greet session with the Spirit players.

These unique off-the-pitch experiences are also paired with training sessions that help participants develop their on-the-pitch skills. Participants leave the training centers with a better understanding of the hard work and dedication it takes to make it to the professional level both on and off the training field.

After a successful first week, the training centers will continue this Monday for U11-U14 age groups.

The following week (7/23-7/26), the training center will be available for girls in the U15-U19 age groups.

Registration is still open for the two upcoming training centers. Follow the link below to register.
