Boyds, Md., (6/17/19) – Spirit rookie midfielder Jordan DiBiasi was honored with the Pam Strathairn Award on June 13 at the Stanford Athletic Board Awards in Stanford, California.

DiBiasi has established herself as one of the league’s top rookies since being selected with the third overall pick in this year’s NWSL Draft, and this award highlights the competitive spirit that has helped her stand out in both the college and professional ranks.

The SAB Awards are Stanford University’s annual athletic department honors. The Pam Strathairn Award, named after one of the university’s early administrators of women’s athletics, is given to senior female athletes who exhibit the best competitive attitude.

DiBiasi was a part of Stanford’s NCAA National Championship team in 2017. In 2018, as a captain of the Cardinal, she was a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist, a first-team All-American and the Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year.

DiBiasi has started in all eight games of the 2019 season so far for the Spirit, scoring two goals and making 243 successful passes. Her olimpico goal against Portland Thorns FC on May 18 won the NWSL Goal of the Week Award and has been one of the league’s most memorable plays in the early part of the season. She capped her strong start with a place in the NWSL’s Team of the Month for May.

DiBiasi and the Spirit will be back in action on June 22 as the Houston Dash come to town for the Spirit’s inaugural Pride Night. Kickoff at the Maryland SoccerPlex is set for 7 p.m. [TICKETS]
