Boyds, Md., (6/3/19) – After collecting the NWSL Goal of the Week Award last week for her strike in a 2-0 win over the Chicago Red Stars, Spirit forward Ashley Hatch has earned her way into the award’s nominations for the second week in a row.

With goals in three straight games, Hatch has become one of the hottest goalscorers in the NWSL. Against Utah Royals FC on Saturday at the Maryland SoccerPlex, she received a pass from defender Tori Huster at the top of the Utah penalty area. After dribbling around a defender along the top of the box, Hatch turned and unleashed a shot that snuck between two defenders before finding a home at the far post.

The goal gave Washington a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute and set the Spirit on their way to a 2-0 win and sole possession of first place in the NWSL. Fans can vote for Hatch’s goal below as she looks to earn the Goal of the Week award for the second time running.

Four big goals, but only one #NWSL Goal of the Week.

Make your choice!

After a weekend off due to the NWSL’s World Cup break, the Spirit will return to action on June 15 when they visit Reign FC in Tacoma, Washington.
