Canberra qualifies to semi-finals in last chance match
The first half of the Canberra United v Perth Glory match was a stalemate, with neither side succeeding in scoring goals. Perth then took the lead in the 52nd minute, leaving the crowd on the edge of their seats because Canberra would not advance with a loss. In the 68th minute, Canberra scored the equalizer. Canberra sealed the deal in the 86th minute with a second goal to solidify their place in the semi-finals. Lori Lindsey played in potentially the last home game of her amazing career. Game Recap.

Season over for Newcastle Jets
In a very rainy match, the Newcastle Jets went down in the first half to Sydney FC 1-0. They managed to score an equalizer in the early stages of the second half and then took the lead in the 70th minute. Sydney FC came back in the 80th minute with an equalizer of its own, which put Sydney FC into the semi-finals. Newcastle had to wait for results of another match, but the results did not go their way, and their season is over. Tori Huster, Katherine Reynolds, and Angela Salem all played for the Jets. Semi-final matches set
Sydney FC will face Perth Glory in Perth in semi-final 1 on Sunday December 14th (Saturday December 13th 11pm ET). In semi-final 2, Christine Nairn, Lisa De Vanna, and the Melbourne Victory will play at home against Lori Lindsey and Canberra United on Saturday December 13th (Friday December 12th 11pm ET).  Full details.

ALLIANZ-FRAUEN-BUNDESLIGA

FFC Frankfurt and Kerstin Garefrekes fell to Bayern Munich 1-2 in the 12th round of the Allianz-Frauen-Bundesliga. FFC Frankfurt is currently in 4th place in the standings. Match Recap.

WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

All 24 teams qualified to next year’s Women’s World Cup received news of their pool play match ups on Saturday December 6th. The Spirit has players on the American, Australian, Canadian, English, and Mexican national teams. See who everyone will be playing here.

NATIONAL TEAM NEWS

USWNT
Crystal Dunn, Ali Krieger, and Ashlyn Harris were all named to the US roster for the International Tournament of Brasilia. The US team will face China PR on December 10th, Brazil on December 14th, and Argentina on December 17th. The top 2 teams after round-robin play will then meet in the final on December 21st. SPIRIT ROSTER

The Spirit acquired defender Arianna (Ari) Romero in a trade with the Houston Dash. Ari is just coming off a big win at the Central American and Caribbean Games with the Mexican National Team. To get to know our new Spirit family member, follow her on twitter and give her a warm welcome! (https://twitter.com/ari_SOMBRERO)  In exchange, the Spirit sent defender Niki Cross to the Dash. We want to thank Niki for all that she did for the Spirit and wish her the best of luck in Houston!
