Huster helps Jets soar past Adelaide
Tori Huster scored the opening goal in the 28th minute of the Newcastle Jets’ win over Adelaide United. After a rough patch of games, the Jets rebounded with a 4-0 victory to move up to 5th place in the standings.

Jones gets shutout for Canberra
Chantel Jones recorded a shutout in Canberra United’s 2-0 win over Brisbane Roar. Lori Lindsey delivered a corner kick in the 36th minute which Grace Field was able to get to and score Canberra’s first goal of the match. A Canberra goal in the 57th minute ensured the eventual win. Canberra United is currently in 3rd place in the standings.

Late goal ties it up for Melbourne
After 60 minutes of scoreless play, Sydney FC broke through and scored the match opener against Melbourne Victory. Melbourne kept battling, and with four minutes remaining in the match, Victory’s Christine Nairn made a cross and found an unmarked Gema Simon to score the match-tying goal and salvage a point from the game.

CONCACAF WOMEN’S WORLD CUP QUALIFYING

Spirit on USWNT
Crystal Dunn, Ashlyn Harris, and Ali Krieger were named to the US roster for the 2014 CONCACAF  Women’s Championship, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2015 Women’s World Cup. The trio will open play on Wednesday, October 15th at 8:30pm EST in Kansas City, Kansas against Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament then travels to Bridgeview, Illinois; Washington, DC; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Full US Soccer story.

Spirit on Mexican WNT
The Mexican Women’s National Team recently named its CONCACAF Women’s Championship training camp roster, which includes Veronica Perez. The 27-player roster will be cut down for the tournament. Mexico’s first match is against Costa Rica on October 16th at 8:30pm EST in Kansas City, Kansas.
