Four Washington Spirit players have been named to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup roster. Goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury, forward Trinity Rodman and midfielders Ashley Sanchez and Andi Sullivan will all take part in their first World Cup this summer in Australia and New Zealand. Learn more >
GROUP STAGE: The USWNT has advanced to the Round of 16 after registering one win and two draws through the group stage. Andi Sullivan and Trinity Rodman have both appeared in three games with Sullivan starting all three and Rodman starting two.

Washington Spirit defender Gabrielle Carle returns for her second World Cup with the Canadian Women’s National Team. Since 2015, Carle has played in 53 matches (26 starts), scoring five goals and adding two assists. As part of Group B, Canada will take on host nation Australia in addition to Ireland and Nigeria in the group stage of this summer’s World Cup.

Spirit midfielder Marissa Sheva is representing the Ireland Women’s National Football Team at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. As part of Group B, Ireland will take on host nation Australia in addition to Canada and Nigeria in the group stage of this summer’s World Cup. The first-time World Cup participants will kick off their debut in Australia, playing group stage matches in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.

Spirit first-year midfielder Riley Tanner is playing for the Panama Women’s National Football Team at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Tanner, the 30th overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft, has been called up to the Panama National team for the fifth time. As part of Group F, Panama will take on France, Brazil and Jamaica in the group stage, playing matches in Adelaide, Perth and Sydney.
