The Spirit’s quarterfinal match, presented by Fanatics Sportsbook, is the team’s first since 2021
Washington, D.C. (11/05/2024) – The Washington Spirit begins its 2024 Playoffs, presented by Alarm.com, CVS Health, Inova, and Fanatics Sportsbook, this Sunday in a BLACK OUT of Audi Field. Fans are encouraged to wear black to this quarterfinal match, presented by Fanatics Sportsbook. It is the team’s first playoff match since 2021 – the year it won the NWSL Championship. Kicking off at 12:30 p.m. EST, the Spirit will face off against No. 7 seed Bay FC, who was the Spirit’s opponent in the team’s home opener this season.
Before the game, fans should join Spirit Supporters who will have a variety of festivities to enjoy. At 8 a.m., Solace Outpost in Navy Yard will open for Spirit fans. Supporters will meet there at 11 a.m. before departing on the Supporters March, a new tradition this season, at 11:15 a.m. The march path moves from Solace to Gate A of Audi Field, and around the concourse before kickoff.
Outside Gate A, Sandlot Bar’s drink menu will feature free samples of Delola spritzes (must be 21 or older with ID present), perfect for a Sunday early afternoon refreshment. The Spirit will also offer a coffee market outside the stadium with coffee, tea, and snacks. Get to Audi Field early to grab a hot beverage, play tailgate games, and spin the CVS Health prize wheel.
Upon entry, the first 7,000 fans will receive a “Spirit vs. Everyone” flag, and matchday programs will be available while supplies last. The flags are encouraged to be waved throughout the match.
Spiritville features staples such as the EAFC stations, Supporters tables, and a soft play zone. Face painters will also be present. ESPN 630 DC will table as normal offering special giveaways.
On the Spirit Stage, just inside Gate A, Domo Wells, the Spirit’s first-ever Creative Director, will host the pregame entertainment (artists to be announced). Additionally, fans can find Wells’ “New Growth” collection at stands located throughout the concourse and Events DC club. These limited-edition pieces are currently available to any ticketed fan for online ordering for in-stadium pickup. For more details, ticket holders should check their email.
Before kickoff, Alex Vaughn will sing the National Anthem with Gallaudet University student, Mia Montoya, serving as the ASL interpreter. Metro PD will serve on the color guard.
The energy continues at halftime with a performance from the Morgan State marching band that will make fans want to stay in their seats. Other game elements include Fanatics Sportsbook’s Kick for Cash and trivia that will feature special prizes.
Following the match, the Spirit will celebrate forward Brittany Ratcliffe for 100 regular season appearances – a milestone she achieved during last week’s win over North Carolina. The celebration will continue at both Dacha Beer Garden and BlueJacket in Navy Yard. Dacha will offer fans with tickets $5 Dachnik beers, while BlueJacket will offer a $15 Holy Trinity special including a burger, fries, and house lager. Both venues will show the Gotham FC vs. Portland Thorns FC match kicking off at 3 p.m.
