Dear Spirit Family,

I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone at the Spirit — for the staff helping me settle and literally sorting everything in my life out now that I’m here, to the players for making me feel so welcome and part of the family from the very beginning, and to all of the fans that have sent me lovely messages on social media.

I am so happy the day has finally come to meet you all for my first NWSL game as a Washington Spirit player. I am hugely grateful to the club. It has been a long process but one that I have enjoyed. Since the start of the NWSL season, I feel like I have been the biggest fan of the team. I have been watching all the games — although, I must admit, sometimes it was on catchup as I didn’t stay up until the early hours to watch the team… I may have prioritised sleep a few times! I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all the games and waking up in the morning with excitement to see the result, which was usually really positive because the team has made such an amazing start to the season. I truly am so excited to be joining.

I feel like I fit perfectly with the club because the Spirit, under Michele Kang’s leadership, has the vision to be one of the very best clubs in the world, and I have the ambition of being one of the best players in the world. So, we match pretty well in that sense.

My journey here was a bit of a whirlwind coming from camp and then to get my visa, and finally into the country. But as soon as I got here, I felt at home. The area is so nice. Everyone here is so lovely. I feel really settled already and feel like I belong here.

I’ve been into DC and done some exploring, and I absolutely love it. There is still plenty more that I want to see, but I have seen all the main sites, which you may have seen on my social media, and I loved it. I feel like such a tourist, but it’s weird because it’s my home now!

While I feel settled off the pitch, I also feel really embedded on it. I love the style of play that Jona is implementing, and I feel like it suits my strengths a lot but will also challenge me to improve the areas that I feel I need to. I think it will help bring the very best out in me as a player, enhancing things I am already good at and finding extra percentages in my game to be as good as I can. My ultimate goal is to be able to contribute to the team’s success.

We have high ambitions, and I have high ambitions: I have come here to win it all. I want to win the NWSL Shield and the NWSL Championship this season — and every season! It’s an exciting prospect as an English person because usually to win the league is the main prize, but here you win the Shield and then you have three more massive games to be the ultimate champion.

That’s what I am here to achieve and with your support, hopefully we can do just that. I can’t wait to put some extra stars above the Washington Spirit badge over the next few seasons!

Finally, even from across the pond, I’ve heard that Rowdy Audi is an incredible atmosphere to experience. I hope to soak it in [Sunday] and for all of my time here in Washington, and I know that with your support, it will live up to all of the hype!
