USWNT set to face Argentina, Mexico and the winner of Guyana/Dominican Republic in Group A
Washington, D.C. (02/07/2024) – Spirit defender Casey Krueger and forward Trinity Rodman have been called up to compete for the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) at this year’s Concacaf W Gold Cup, U.S. Soccer announced today. The tournament will be played in Houston, San Diego and the greater Los Angeles area. As part of Group A, the USWNT will face Argentina, Mexico and the winner of Saturday, February 17’s preliminary match between Guyana and the Dominican Republic, with all three contests taking place at Carson, California’s Dignity Health Sports Park.
A rising star for the USWNT, Rodman became the only player to appear in all 18 USWNT matches in 2023. In those matches, she made 11 starts, scored five goals and added five assists, logging a brace in a friendly versus Wales. Rodman also earned a call-up for her first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup last summer, where she started three of four matches played by the USWNT, totaling seven shots in those games. In her senior national team career, Rodman has tallied 28 appearances, seven goals and five assists.
Krueger receives her fourth consecutive call-up for the USWNT. In 2023, Krueger was given the nod during September, October and November international competition windows. During that time, she appeared in five matches, making two starts. The bronze medalist in the 2021 Olympic Games has featured on USWNT rosters since 2016. In her career, Krueger has 42 international caps and four assists,
Preliminary round matchups take place Saturday, February 17 ahead of group stage matches, which will span from Tuesday, February 20 until Wednesday, February 28. Next, the knockout stage will begin with the quarterfinals taking place on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 – before the semifinals on Wednesday, March 6. The 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup Final will take place on Sunday, March 10 at 8:15 p.m. EST at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California.
