Get ready for today’s home match against the Pride with some fast facts below:
- The Spirit looks to end a 13-match winless drought that began after the season opening win against OL Reign on May 1. Since the match, Washington has lost six, tied six and advanced after a penalty kick shootout in one.
- The last time the Spirit took on the Pride, it allowed two second half stoppage time goals and was forced to settle for a 2-2 draw in Orlando.
- Orlando will be the only team in the NWSL to make two trips to DC this season (not taking any potential playoff matches into account) as the side previously played at Audi Field on April 3 during the Challenge Cup. Both NJ/NY Gotham FC and North Carolina will visit the Spirit for a second time this season but each will split its away matches between Audi Field and Segra Field.
- Midfielder/forward Averie Collins returned from injury last week, playing in her first match since the 2020 Fall Series. Collins suffered an ACL tear during the 2021 preseason and missed the entire season.
- Defender/midfielder Gaby Vincent also returned from injury last week, seeing her first playing time since March 30’s 2-2 draw with the North Carolina Courage at Audi Field. Vincent was sidelined with a calf injury for over three months.
- Defender Alia Martin could make her NWSL and Spirit debut today. Martin signed with the Spirit last December and has been sidelined with injury since the start of the season.
- Midfielder Katie Murray could also make her first league and Spirit appearance today. Murray signed with the Spirit as a national team replacement (NTR) player in June.
- The Spirit will be without Aubrey Kingsbury, Kelley O’Hara, Trinity Rodman, Ashley Sanchez, Emily Sonnett and Andi Sullivan again today as the six USWNT players prepare for Monday’s Concacaf Women’s Championship final against Canada.
- Defender Emily Sonnett netted her first career goal with the USWNT during Thursday’s Concacaf Women’s Championship semifinal match against Costa Rica.
- Midfielder Ashley Sanchez added another goal against Costa Rica in second half stoppage time, capping off a 3-0 victory for the USWNT.
- Forward Ashley Hatch returned from competing with the USWNT this week due to a leg muscle strain and will be unavailable today as well.

- Pre-match meet and greet for select season ticket members with Michele Kang, NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman and Spirit alum Joanna Lohman.
- United States Senator Tim Kaine and Girls Scouts Nation’s Capital CEO Lidia Soto-Harmon will join as honorary captains for the coin toss. Senator Kaine will also deliver the pre-match remarks to the team.

- Tailgate Zone: At the tailgate zone fans can enjoy a live DJ and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages ahead of the game. For July 17, the first 1,000 beers will be free to fans as a thank you for their support of their reigning champions.

- Community Zone: In the Community Zone, you can get to know our community partners who are making an impact in the Washington, D.C. region and beyond.
The match will be broadcast on Paramount+ for fans in the United States and on Twitch for international viewers. Following the match, the Spirit will host a press conference with head coach Kris Ward and two players. Fans can stream the postgame presser via the Washington Spirit Twitch channel. The NWSL’s seven-day in-season break for players will begin the day after the match on Monday, July 18 with players returning the following Monday, July 25.
