Boyds, Md., (1/27/20) – Washington Spirit midfielder Andi Sullivan and Rose Lavelle have joined the United States Women’s National Team and forward Cheyna Matthews has joined the Jamaican National Team for the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Lavelle has become a rising star with the USWNT following several breakout performances in 2019. Lavelle displayed her world-class skill during the World Cup, as the midfielder appeared in six matches and scored three goals, including a goal against the Netherlands in the World Cup Final.

In 2019, Lavelle was named to the FIFPro Women’s Best XI, nominated for the Ballon d’Or, and nominated for 2019 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year. Lavelle has made 38 appearances for the USWNT, scoring 10 goals.

Sullivan joins the USWNT as just one of two players who did not make the 2019 World Cup squads. The midfielder has been a part of every camp called by new Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski, outside of the recent December Identification camp. Sullivan has made 15 appearances for the USA thus far in her career.

Matthews is coming off an impressive CONCACAF Caribbean Olympic Qualifying tournament where she scored eight goals in four matches with the Reggae Girlz. In her career, Matthews has earned nine caps for Jamaica since making her debut against Chile in early 2019. Jamaica is attempting to qualify for the Olympics for the first time a year after making their World Cup debut in France last summer.

The USWNT will kick off Group A action tomorrow against Haiti. The US will continue the tournament on Friday, Jan. 31 when they take on Panama. Group A play will wrap up for the USWNT on Monday, Feb. 3 as they face Costa Rica.

For Jamaica, Group B play begins on Wednesday, Jan. 29 against Mexico. The Reggae Girlz then take on Canada on Saturday, Feb. 1 before closing out group play against St. Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

As part of a new television deal between CONCACAF and Fox Sports, the Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be available across the Fox Sports platforms.
