Boyds, Md., (10/7/19) – Spirit goalkeeper Shae Yanez has been nominated for NWSL Save of the Week Award for her reflex save in stoppage time of Washington’s 3-0 win over Orlando.
Orlando forward Rachel Hill played a pinpointed cross directly in front of the Spirit net in the 5th minute of stoppage time. Pride midfielder Abby Elinsky rose up and headed the cross towards the net, but Yanez instinctively grabbed the header with her heels on the goal line, preserving the Spirit’s clean sheet.
