The Washington Spirit announced today that the club has signed midfielder Christine Nairn to a new contract for 2015 NWSL season. Per team and league policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Nairn, 24, started in 21 of her 23 appearances for the Spirit in 2014. In 1,838 minutes played, the Annapolis, Md. native recorded six goals and two assists.
The Spirit acquired Nairn in a trade with Seattle Reign FC before the 2014 season. She was drafted seventh overall by Reign FC in the 2013 NWSL College Draft out of Penn State University. Nairn started all 22 matches of the 2013 season with Reign FC, tallying three goals and five assists.
In the 2014 NWSL Playoffs, Nairn started in the Spirit’s 2-1 semifinal loss to Reign FC.
Nairn, who is currently on loan with the Melbourne Victory in Australia, will return to Washington prior to the start of the 2015 NWSL season.
