Late heroics bring Canberra a tie
Canberra United had a positive opening before Western Sydney Wanderers took the lead in the first half. Lori Lindsey provided a series of free kicks to put pressure on the Wanderers, but it wasn’t until the 90th minute that Canberra tied it up and saved a point for the team. Chantel Jones also played the entire match for Canberra. Game Recap.

League leaders win over Melbourne
Melbourne Victory took the lead after only a few minutes, but Perth Glory came back to win 3-1. Perth is holding a commanding 7 point lead in the overall standings. Christine Nairn played the entire game for Melbourne. Game Recap.

Melbourne shocked by Adelaide United
Melbourne Victory played 2 games in the last week because the team’s Round 12 match was pushed up due to scheduling conflicts. The league is currently in Round 8. In the rescheduled match, the Victory grabbed the early lead in the 2nd minute. Melbourne held this lead until the 81st minute when Adelaide came back to tie. Adelaide then scored a second goal in the 85th minute to complete an impressive comeback and win 2-1. Christine Nairn started for the Victory. Game Recap.

Matheson injures ACL
Diana Matheson unfortunately tore her left ACL while playing for the Canadian WNT against Japan. We wish her a speedy recovery and know she will do everything she can to get back on the field as soon as possible! If you want to send her some Spirit love, tweet her @dmatheson8. Without her, the Can WNT went on to lose a very close battle with Japan, losing 3-2 on pretty much the final kick of the match. Even with a loss, Canada can take confidence from hanging with the reigning Women’s World Cup champions for the entire match, which bodes well for them for next year’s Women’s World Cup in their home country.
