Morris to join other players eligible for U-23 Youth National Team for January camp
Washington, D.C. (01/08/2025) – Washington Spirit breakout star Makenna Morris has been called up to the U.S. Women’s National Team’s 2025 Futures Camp, U.S. Soccer announced today.
Entering her sophomore campaign in the NWSL, Morris has established herself as a key part of the Spirit’s cohort of young stars. Across the Spirit’s last 14 matches of the 2024 season, Morris tallied five goals and three assists, none bigger than her stoppage time assist of Hal Hershfelt’s equalizer in the NWSL semifinal match at Audi Field. For her stellar performance, Morris was named as the league’s Rookie of the Month and to the league’s Best XI in October/November.
The 2025 Futures Camp will feature U.S. Women’s National Team prospects that are age-eligible for the U-23 Youth National Team. This camp will run concurrently with the senior team’s camp in Los Angeles later this month. At the international level, Morris has experience with several U.S. Youth National Teams, having previously competed with the Under-15, U-17 and U-20 teams.
The Spirit will take the field in 2025 looking to build on last season’s second place finish in the NWSL. Behind stellar performances from the side’s star players and rookie phenoms, the Spirit set new single season club marks on the pitch in wins (18, also a league record), points (56) and goals (51) in front of record attendances at Audi Field in 2024.
