No. 2 seed Spirit will host No. 7 seed Bay FC on Sunday, November 10
Washington, D.C. (11/03/2024) – The Washington Spirit will host Bay FC on Sunday, November 10 at 12:30 p.m. EST in the Spirit’s quarterfinal match, presented by Fanatics Sportsbook. With Chicago’s loss to the Kansas City Current this afternoon, Bay FC secured the No. 7 seed in the playoffs and will travel to DC next weekend. Limited tickets are available here.
After securing the No. 2 seed with last night’s road win over North Carolina, the Spirit is guaranteed home-field advantage in the playoffs until the championship. A win in next weekend’s quarterfinal would have the Spirit hosting a semifinal for the first time in club history on either Saturday, November 16 or Sunday, November 17. The Spirit has previously played in four NWSL semifinals, all away from home (2014, 2015, 2016, 2021).
The Spirit, led by star Trinity Rodman and an incredible class of rookies, completed its best regular season in club history since its founding in 2012 this year. With a record of 18-6-2 (56 points), this year’s team set new club records in wins (18, also tying the league’s single season record), points (56) and goals scored (51).
The 2024 NWSL Playoffs will begin next weekend with the eight-team quarterfinal round, followed by the semifinals taking place on November 16 and 17. On Saturday, November 23, the 2024 NWSL Championship will take place in Kansas City, Missouri at CPKC Stadium, the first stadium purpose-built for professional women’s soccer.
