Spirit to host first playoff match at Audi Field since championship season

Washington, D.C. (10/21/2024) – The Washington Spirit’s home quarterfinal match will take place on Sunday, November 10 at Audi Field, kicking off at 12:30 p.m. EST against an opponent still to be determined, the NWSL announced today.

The Spirit last hosted a playoff match in the 2021 quarterfinals, when it faced the North Carolina Courage in Audi Field’s first-ever NWSL postseason game. Golden Boot winner Ashley Hatch secured a dramatic 1-0 victory, scoring in extra time, as the club went on to claim the first NWSL Championship in Spirit history.

This year’s Spirit team, led by star Trinity Rodman’s career high eight goals and six assists, has surged to one of its best regular seasons since the club’s founding in 2012 with a record of 17-6-2 (53 points) through 25 matches. Currently sitting in second place on the NWSL table, this year’s team has already set new club records in wins (17), points (53) and goals scored (50).
