Dear Spirit Family,

Trying to encapsulate my first season with the Washington Spirit is a tall order, but let me start with this: Playing in front of the fans that I grew up with, the community that raised me, and my family— it’s been surreal. Every time I step onto the field, I’m reminded of the support and love that’s followed me since I was a kid wearing my Spirit jerseys to the SoccerPlex.

Now, wearing this jersey carries a special weight because it represents the place that made me who I am. I’m proud to represent my hometown every time I play. I love to see the young soccer players after the games wearing their own club or Spirit jerseys. I see a lot of myself in them. You have to work hard and dream big. Those dreams really do come true.

As for my rookie season, it has certainly been full of challenges and growth. To start the season with an injury was one of the most mentally challenging things I have had to go through. All professionals play through bumps and bruises, but I have never been out for an extended time. It was hard. I was new to the team. I was trying to prove to the coaches and fans that I belong here. And to have that stripped away was difficult.

Though, coming into the facility everyday and getting the best treatments available, having the coaches and staff checking on me every day, and my amazing teammates encouraging me along the way got me through it. They kept reminding me that I will be back out there with them soon, and that made everything so much better.

The adjustment to this level of competition has been intense, but my coaches and teammates have been there for me every step of the way. The coaches, in particular, have been amazing. They’ve pushed me, believed in me, and helped me grow both as a player and as a person. Their trust has been invaluable, and I’ve learned so much from each of them, on and off the field.

I love that they will pull you aside in a practice or after a game and give you feedback on what you should look for or why something should be done differently. They make you smarter about the game of soccer. I love our team, coaches, and staff. Not to mention, being led by Michele Kang is one of the greatest privileges. She is changing the game of women’s soccer around the globe.

To the fans, thank you. You make this place feel like home every time I step out there. Your energy, your passion — it fuels me. I remember missing a shot once this season and heard the fans chanting my name. That was like living in a dream.

Looking ahead, you better believe we have something special brewing here. Our coaches are cooking up something different and special for every training session and game plan. As you can see, we have so many different personalities on this team. I love their style of play and how they bring out the best in every other player. This is just the beginning, and I’m ready to give everything I’ve got for this team. We are here to win the NWSL Championship and the Shield every season. I couldn’t imagine starting my career anywhere else, and I’m excited to run it back next year.

Let’s get Rowdy at Audi!
