To Our Fans –
I want to reach out and share with you some things we are working on for the upcoming season. Just like 2019, our focus is on the player and fan experiences.
For the players — we are looking forward to a revamped spring where we will spend two weeks in South Florida for our preseason camp. Getting to a warmer climate will significantly enhance our preparation for the 2020 season.
Our players are also going to benefit with a significantly improved medical program. The new, comprehensive program includes many additional resources thanks to our new medical partner. Our players will be served on a daily basis by two athletic trainers, physical therapists, nutritionists, orthopedic surgeons and a sports psychologist. Our players will also have access to chiropractic and massage services as well as cryotherapy. Additionally, dental and oral surgery services will again be provided by our partners and friends at Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Our players will also benefit from improved apartment housing, meals and transportation.
On the field, we have made numerous signings and a trade to improve our roster. We have also made significant additional investments in human performance and video analysis technologies to enhance our player development.
All of the details on these new partnerships and programs will be revealed in the coming weeks!
For our fans, we are working diligently on several important initiatives to improve the fan experience and immerse our fans into everything we do as a club.
First, we are making investments in the production of original content. We recently launched the Catch the Spirit Podcast hosted by Craig Hoffman and Chris Gorres. Craig and Chris will interview players, coaches, staff, partners, and fans during the course of the year. You will get to know more about our club and the things we do on and off the field. You can catch up on the first three episodes anywhere you can listen to podcasts.
Secondly, we are launching new video content that will enable fans to see what we do in training sessions, fitness sessions, community service, and unique features on the lives of our players. We are going to take you behind the scenes to strengthen your bond with our club.
Third, our season opener is scheduled to be held at Audi Field on April 18th. This event is going to be epic. I’ve been told the kids might even say it’s lit. If you attended our matches at Audi Field last season and experienced those events…well, let’s just say you haven’t seen anything yet.
Fourth, we are making significant improvements to the concessions and merchandise selections available to our fans. Candidly, this is an area that we need to do much better and we will do so this year. Thank you for your understanding last year as my staff and I got some on the job training. Just as I want the best for our players, I want the best for our fans.
Next, we are launching new initiatives for youth clubs, adult clubs, and fans of all ages. We are family-friendly, millennial-friendly, Gen X/Y/Z friendly, diversity-friendly and love to celebrate all fans of all ages, races, genders no matter who he/she or they may love. Everyone is welcome to be part of the Spirit Family!
Finally, our club is going to be doing even more in our community. We will continue the initiatives we have worked on in the past and are adding even more to the mix. Everything we do is focused on our players and our fans. Our community involvement is essential to our success.
Thank you for supporting our players and our club. If you need to communicate something to me or our club, feel free to email me at sbaldwin@washspirit.com or Larry Best at ceo@washspirit.com or Gretchen Hamm at cmo@washspirit.com. We are here to serve.
So get excited, get your tickets and get ready for a magical 2020 season! We can’t wait to share even more with you soon.
