Boyds, Md., (11/10/19) – Washington Spirit midfielder Rose Lavelle was named to Vlatko Andonovski’s starting XI for the United States Women’s National Team’s friendly match against Costa Rica in Jacksonville, Florida.
Lavelle looked dangerous throughout the game, consistently unlocking the Costa Rican backline with her passing and dribbling abilities. The Spirit midfielder flashed her playmaking abilities when she set up forward Carli Lloyd with a perfect through-ball in the fourth minute of action, which Lloyd finished cleanly.

Lavelle was leading the USWNT attack again in the eighth minute as she set up midfielder Morgan Brian on the left side of the penalty area, who then tucked the close-range look into the bottom-right corner of the goal, earning Lavelle her second assist in a four-minute span.

Spirit midfielder Andi Sullivan made her 15th career USWNT appearance after she entered play directly after halftime, coming on for defender Becky Sauerbrunn.
Additionally, forward Mallory Pugh entered the game in the 63rd minute for Tobin Heath, taking up a spot on the right wing of the US attack. Pugh has now appeared in 19 games for the USWNT in 2019, and has made 62 appearances for the US over her international career.
The USWNT will be back in action on January 28 as they take on Haiti in Group A of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers.
