Boyds, Md., (1/30/20) – The Washington Spirit has finalized plans for the first-ever warm weather preseason camp in club history, as well as the club’s three fixtures ahead of the 2020 National Women’s Soccer League campaign.

The Spirit will be breaking ground with an inaugural warm-weather camp that will be held in Port St. Lucie, Florida from March 12 to March 25. The warm-weather camp will provide Spirit players with high-quality pitch conditions and will improve the quality of outdoor training sessions, allowing their preseason preparation to be enhanced.

All three fixtures will be held at the Maryland SoccerPlex and will be complementary to all Spirit Season Ticket Holders as an added benefit of their season ticket packages. Plex Members will find their complimentary ticket uploaded on the Spirit Account Manager. Audi and Segra Holders may obtain tickets by using a promo code that will be emailed to them by the end of the day (Thursday, Jan. 30).

Season Ticket Holders may also obtain an additional ticket to all preseason fixtures with the new “Bring-a-Friend” program using a promo code that will be emailed to all holders by the end of the day (Thursday, Jan. 30).

The Spirit will open their preseason play on Saturday, March 28 against the University of Virginia at 7 pm ET. This match will be the fifth between the Spirit and the Wahoos, as the Spirit played against them four times from 2014-2017. In their last competition against UVA, the Spirit emerged victorious with a 2-0 shutout win.

Washington’s second preseason game will be against the 22-time NCAA champion North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday, April 4, with another 7 pm ET kickoff. UNC has been a staple in the Spirit’s preseason matches, as Washington has faced off against the Tar Heels every year since 2017. In the last clash between the two sides, the Spirit drew with UNC 0-0 in front of a sell-out crowd at the Evergreen SportsPlex.

The third and final match of the Spirit’s preseason will be held on Saturday, April 11 against the Nittany Lions of Penn State. The match will feature a unique 2 pm ET kickoff time. Penn State holds an important part in Spirit history, as Washington’s first-ever win came against Penn State during the 2013 preseason. This clash between the Spirit and Penn State is the first since 2017, which was a 3-0 win in favor of Washington.
