Boyds, Md., (1/6/20) – The Washington Spirit have signed midfielder Jaye Boissiere. Per club and league policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Collegiately, Boissiere attended Stanford from 2014 to 2018, accruing numerous accolades for her exceptional play. Boissiere began garnering national attention after her breakout 2017 season for the Cardinal. The midfielder was named to the 2017 All-Pac-12 second team and 2017 College Cup All-Tournament team. Boissiere was also named the 2017 College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player after scoring the cup-clinching goal against UCLA in the College Cup Final.
In 2017, Boissiere displayed her abilities to score and also set up her teammates. The midfielder recorded nine goals and 10 assists in her 25 appearances for the Cardinal that season, garnering a total of 28 points on her way to winning the College Cup.
Boissiere kept the ball rolling in 2018 as she was nominated for the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy, and was named to the 2018 All-Pac-12 second team. Her play at Stanford was recognized by the United States, as she was called up to the US Under 23s in March of 2018, alongside current Spirit players Jordan DiBiasi and Tegan McGrady.
Boissiere spent 2019 overseas, playing with French side La Havre in the second division of French football.
Spirit Head Coach Richie Burke said this on Boisierre: “With Jaye’s arrival at the Spirit we’ve added a really top quality player who ticks all of our boxes. She is another serial winner and someone who has the ability and style to play the way we want to play.”
Burke continued on to say: “Jaye is the prototypical box-to-box midfielder, but has the ability to read the game so well from central areas of the field and can play in multiple roles for our team. She is another one I can’t wait to get started with this season.”
