Since 2012, the Washington Spirit has been the premier professional women’s soccer team in the DMV area. The Spirit plays in the National Women’s Soccer League, the preeminent women’s soccer competition in North America, and last won the championship in 2021. All of the club’s regular season home matches are played at Audi Field in the Buzzard Point neighborhood of DC.
