Two Spirit Players Clinch Spot in 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup After WAFCON Quarterfinals

Washington, D.C. (08/11/2026) – Incoming Washington Spirit midfielders Mélissa Bethi and Monique Ngock helped their national teams qualify for next summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup with a win in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarterfinal round last weekend. Bethi and Algeria took down Ivory Coast 2-1 while Ngock and Cameroon topped Nigeria 1-0.
