Spirit honors military personnel and first responders in return to Audi Field, while offering $38 Value Pack and unique pre-match festivities for the can’t-miss match

Washington, D.C. (05/13/2024) – Saturday night is Salute to Service Night, recognizing all military personnel and first responders as the Washington Spirit plays host to Angel City FC in a star-studded East Coast vs. West Coast showdown.

This season, the Spirit will offer enhanced entertainment options and amenities to fans to create an unforgettable atmosphere from the moment gates open until well after the final whistle blows.

Though, the party starts before the game begins as the Spirit will partner with two Spirit Bar Network Partners in  Navy Yard – Dacha Beer Garden and Solace – to offer truly memorable and high-energy pre-game festivities. Fans will be able to show their matchday ticket to “Spin the Wheel” at Dacha for prizes, where the mood will be set by DJ Fili. At Solace, fans will have an opportunity to “Enter to Win” premium prize giveaways.

Additionally, just outside of Audi Field, Sandlot Bar will open for fans. This converted shipping container bar and event space has been serving up drinks and energy in locations around the DMV since 2018, when it debuted as an activation idea for the 2018 MLB All-Star Game at Nationals Park.

Upon entry to Audi Field, fans will receive a special game program. Recently expanded, this program will feature a story about Croix Bethune and Hal Hershfelt’s military upbringing, a spotlight on a special first responder and Spirit Supporter, as well as a Mother’s Day story.

On the Spirit Stage at Gate A, the United States Air Force Band will perform as fans enter the concourse. In the community corner, fans can learn more about several organizations including the Mayor’s Office of Veteran’s Affairs, Travis Manion Foundation, and more. Finally, Spiritville returns with EAFC stations, kid’s play zone, PK meet-and-greet, and face painters.

Fans should keep their eyes on the jumbotron before the match as Tara McKeown will speak with Spirit in-game host, Haiya Koffler, about her family ties to the military and much more. And just before kickoff, the Spirit will honor an active-duty service member from Joint Base Andrews as the honorary captain.

Leading up to the match, fans are encouraged to share their photos and stories of the heroes in their lives and tag the Washington Spirit on X and Instagram for a chance to be featured on the video board at Audi Field.
