Carle earns nod for her performance to close out the regular season
Washington, D.C. (11/06/2026) – Washington Spirit defender Gabrielle Carle has been named to the NWSL’s Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime, for her outstanding performance across the Spirit’s final month of the regular season, the league announced today.
Consistently a vital part of the Spirit back line since joining the side almost four years ago, this marks Carle’s first-ever selection to the league’s team of the month. The defender produced a full-90 performance in each of the Spirit’s four October/November matches, helping the side to three wins and two clean sheets in the process, including a vital 1-0 win over rival and eventual Shield winner Gotham FC at home. Carle appeared in 26 matches this regular season, helping the Spirit defending third to a single season club record 12 shutouts and dishing out two match-winning assists in the attacking third.
The NWSL Best XI of the Month, presented by Amazon Prime is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.
The Spirit is set to kick off the 2026 NWSL Playoffs at home this weekend against Portland Thorns FC. Kicking off at 3 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 8 at Audi Field, tickets are available at WashingtonSpirit.com/tickets.
