Washington, D.C. (03/05/2024) – The Washington Spirit has signed forward Ashley Hatch to a new three-year contract with a 2027 option, the club announced today. The contract will take effect immediately, replacing Hatch’s current contract was set to expire after the 2024 season.

Hatch started all 22 regular season matches for the Spirit in 2023, totaling nine goals, two assists and 1,838 minutes out of a possible 1,980. Across all players last season, Hatch finished tied for third in goals, her highest finish in the Golden Boot race since winning the honor in 2021. At the international level, Hatch has made 21 appearances for the U.S. Women’s National Team, scoring five goals and adding one assist.

“Hatchy has been a key component of the Spirit attacking third for the past six years and still has the prime of her career ahead of her,” said President of Soccer Operations/General Manager Mark Krikorian. “We’re thrilled to have her commit to the club for at least the next three seasons.”

Originally from Gilbert, Arizona, Hatch attended Brigham Young University from 2013 through 2016, totaling 47 goals and 21 assists in 75 matches played for the Cougars. Hatch spent her rookie season in the NWSL with the North Carolina Courage, joining the Spirit prior to the 2018 season.

“Super excited and grateful to re-sign with the Spirit through 2027,” said Hatch.  “I truly feel this is the best place for me to continue to grow and develop as a player and person. The DC community is home, and I am so glad to be a part of it for another 4 years!”
