Panama set to face Brazil, Colombia and the winner of Haiti/Puerto Rico in Group B

Washington, D.C. (02/08/2024) – Washington Spirit midfielder Riley Tanner has been called up to represent Panama at the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup, the Panamanian Football Federation announced today. The tournament will be played in Houston, San Diego and the greater Los Angeles area. As part of Group B, Panama will face Brazil, Colombia and the winner of Saturday, February 17’s preliminary match between Haiti and Puerto Rico, with all three contests taking place at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

Tanner, the 30th overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft, is being called up to the Panama National team for the eighth time. In November, Tanner earned a call-up for Panama’s final 2023 Road to W Gold Cup match, which served as a qualifier for the 2024 W Gold Cup.

Last summer, Tanner represented Panama at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. She also helped the team qualify for its first-ever appearance in the Women’s World Cup earlier this year during February’s Play-Off Tournament. Tanner scored her first international goal in the semifinal of the tournament against Papua New Guinea.
