30-player roster features eight new signees.
Washington, D.C. (03/08/2023) – The Washington Spirit has released an updated 2023 preseason roster, the club announced today. The roster features three goalkeepers, ten defenders, 11 midfielders and six forwards.
Since January’s initial preseason roster was announced, the Spirit has signed eight players to professional contracts. Midfielder Inès Jaurena, who arrived in camp this week, joins the NWSL after playing professionally in France for the past ten years. Fifteen-year-old Chloe Ricketts began training camp as a non-roster invitee (NRI) before becoming the youngest-ever contracted NWSL player last week. Draft picks including goalkeeper Lyza Bosselmann, midfielders Nicole Douglas and Riley Tanner and forwards Civana Kuhlmann and Lena Silano all signed with the club to officially begin their respective NWSL careers. Midfielder Paige Metayer has also signed a contract to join the Spirit.
Rounding out the NRI group are 17-year-old forward Melina Rebimbas, forward Mariana Speckmaier and defender Jordan Thompson. Defender Delaney Graham has still yet to report as she continues rehab from knee surgery.
