Washington, D.C., (12/18/21) – The Washington Spirit have selected Hofstra forward/midfielder Lucy Shepherd with the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft. Washington acquired the pick via a trade with the Chicago Red Stars.
Originally from Worcestershire, England, Shepherd tallied 25 goals and 25 assists in 96 games over her five seasons with the Pride, including a career-best 8 goals and 12 assists in 2021. Shepherd earned Second-Team All-CAA in each of her final three seasons in Hempstead and started all but one match for Hofstra over that span.
