Boyds, Md., (10/06/20) – Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe has been nominated for NWSL Fall Series Verizon Save of the Week Award for her save in the 52nd minute during the Spirit’s match against Sky Blue FC.
Ifeoma Onumonu picked the ball up at the top of the 18, then fed a pass across to Jennifer Cudjoe. Cudjoe wound up for a shot, releasing a winding ball that was destined for the top left corner. That is until Bledsoe got a hand to it. With the ball spinning and dipping, Bledsoe leaped up to make a brilliant one-handed save, flipping the ball over the net. Poised and controlled, the left hand on Bledsoe helped keep Sky Blue off the scoreboard.
